How has the Clinical Privilege White Papers research been developed?
HCPro, Inc. has conducted high-level research into clinical privileging criteria for over fifteen years through our work with the Clinical Privileging White Papers and the CRC.
Our editors have developed a process for developing recommended criteria that brings together extensive research on the clinical nature of the procedure or practice area with the positions of the leading specialty societies and boards involved. We go beyond searching society Web sites to contacting experts within the organizations; and will frequently find that published positions by these expert sources are outdated and undergoing review and rewrite. When that is the case, our editors will work with the society, board, or other organization to obtain the most current position available-often before it is made public.
The research does not end there. Whether the research is focused on a new procedure or a new subspecialty, our editors make multiple contacts with medical device companies to discuss available training and to identify the specialties recommended to participate. In addition, the editors survey residency programs to confirm whether they offer training as part of a subspecialty or specialty. Further, our editors identify and conduct extensive interviews with the leading clinicians in the nation who have experience with the procedure, specialty, or subspecialty itself. These interviews help inform the final development of the paper. Finally, the paper is published, and the recommended criteria are generated.
Updates and new papers. Our White Papers editors are constantly in touch with customers, consultants, and experts in the field-and these dialogues help us to select new papers for our research. The most important voice is that of our CRC subscribers! If there is a White Paper topic that you would like to see us pursue, please let us know. Simply email mphillion@hcpro.com, and tell us about your needs. In addition to publishing new papers each month, our editors will be continually reviewing the older papers in the online library, and updating research on existing topics.
