The mission of CRC’s Platinum Privilege service is to provide members with access to advanced data on the privileging practices, criteria, and sample forms used by fellow facilities. Monthly benchmarking surveys, on topics selected by members, present research on the privileging policies of hospitals nationwide. Research into cutting-edge clinical procedures is provided to members via a searchable archive of key website links for new privilege requests. Platinum Privilege is a membership upgrade available only to CRC subscribers.

Core Privileging

Criteria-based core privileging is a clinical privilege delineation method now used by a majority of healthcare organizations nationwide. The Credentialing Resource Center offers this new section devoted to core privileging design, implementation, and research.

Credentialing and Privileging Update

FDA okays minimally invasive surgical kits

The U.S. Food and Drug Administration has given approval to a Connecticut company to market its surgery kit for use in laparoscopic procedures, according to the Associated Press.

Surgeons can use the kits, made by North Haven, CT-based Covidien Ltd., to perform procedures through a single incision in a patient’s belly button. The SILS Procedure Kits are scheduled to be available this summer, the AP reported on May 20.

According to the article, Covidien also plans to produce other custom kits to be used in gynecologic, urologic, and bariatric surgery.
